The purpose of this survey is to assess the climate at your school as part of an overall process designed to help people at many schools like yours to learn about the experiences and best practices of independent schools in creating diverse and inclusive school communities and providing positive, effective multicultural educational experiences. This survey uses an appreciative inquiry approach, grounded in the belief that we are all progressing toward our goals of equity and justice and that we can leverage our best practices as a springboard for even greater success. This process allows your school to identify its overall achievements in inclusivity and equity, and to provide a blueprint for continued progress. Your school is also undertaking a Self-Assessment that includes a guided process for answering a set of questions designed to facilitate dialogue and collective learning.
Your responses to this survey are strictly confidential and will be combined with the responses of others who are affiliated with your school. No one will see your individual responses and there is no way your responses or personal characteristics can be determined by anyone looking at the analyses to be developed from the survey data. The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) is administering the survey online, and anonymity is assured by NAIS. We ask that you be open and complete in your responses as your views and those of other participants are extremely important. These responses will help your school community assess whether the positive climate they are working to create is consistent with what you experience at the school. This will help your school learn about what they are doing well and how they can improve. In addition, it will help schools across the country learn from each other about how to create and sustain the best possible experience for your school community.
